Yep, you are correct. Me got into big trouble that day. Washes with difficulty yes. Wife and her RR breeding buddies/partners were having slumber party at the house that weekend and left me to babysit 7 pups 2 hours. They went for lunch. They got back and all 7 puppies were covered in white clay. Add the pup house. They were getting ready to do a photo session and then buyers were coming to pick up their pups. Frantically bathing pups and washing pup house down(I managed them lol) Long weekend for me, they made me pay. Pups smelled great ! and I bet their coats were nice and soft!
*Have a feeling you end up in trouble with wife often

Your fire pits sure blow away my half steel drum. I have to a new drum every 15 years or so. Each half only lasts so long.

Titanium, it will never rust out. |

Titanium, that just sounds mean. And being an engine part off of a Chinook. Maybe titanium fire pits would be a draw to the rich and the famous.... Price for bowl by request only. Don't EVER get titanium hot enough to burn, can't put it out except by oxygen deprivation. Used to machine paper mill slurry pump cases out of it, company very picky about chip control because of capability to burn. Had to try it, lit up a stringy chip of it, turned into a white glowing ball that moved up the chip until the chip was completely consumed.

When I was over in Nam we used to spotface corrosion off mounting holes on magnesium gearboxes for Huey tail rotors. This generated a really fine very thin chip that flashed readily when lit. Lit some one day in an ashtray just as our pretty much drunk shop chief walked in the shop, he near lost bladder control.

Well after dark some dude used an oxy-acetylene torch to light a 1/2" rod of magnesium. Once it lit, the light made the beach look like daylight. Every one lighting fireworks was pissed! So dude tossed it in the ocean! The thing burned until totally consumed, under water! |

Worker stopped by for a couple of days after work. 3 titanium fire pits - not really. The shiny ones are high chrome but not stainless.  |

Will the high chrome still rust but slower and perhaps a different shade of decay rust?

Those things are made out of over a half dozen different carbon steel compositions. Various stainless mixes too. Relates to the process they are being used for. Never know what they will send. They all weld about the same though. |

A neighbor is interested in purchasing the fire pit business. Looks like the sales price for an internet business is 3 times the net income plus all inventory. I am OK with selling at this pricing at age 62 although it is an easy business to operate and would make more money if kept. Looking at other internet companies listed at www.websiteclosers.com/websites-for-sale/The pricing is quite repetitive. Never sold a business. My neighbor is understandably asking tough questions requiring some detailed accounting. For the past 2 years the income only varied 2% so it is steady. All interesting though. |

He was given the funds for a full college ed and floundered it under the table on his party life. Really broke his Mom's heart. That rascal has one thing on his mind. A big muscular strapping handsome young fellow and can't blame. I don't think he is responsible enough at 23 yrs old. Wished he had finished planting oats. No matter, all will go full circle and those 2 will get the farm. There is some growing up to do. |

I got quotes for bending these strips of steel into round rings. I know the game, they use a ring bending machine. They are slow and a pain to use. They ranged from $12 to $25/ring - outrageous. So I made a bending jig and do it by hand.(been here done this many times). Granted it is a bit of exercise but not that bad. A cheater bar can be used to reduce required strength. Or the jig can be mounted atop a stump and the operator can walk a circle around the stump. Appears to be a fine business offering this as a service. Over 100 rings bent in 1.5 hours by an old man, uh, like $1000/hour !?! ready to have tails cut off:  The pile  |

I like the idea of attaching jig to stump. Maybe you or your donkey could take turns going around stump. When you have had enough of that good exercise, the donkey could relieve you!

This ring did not take much force so it was mounted on a vertical pole so that a man's arms can make the round bend without walking circles around a stump. Another trick to bending rings is to chain a long piece of steel to a tire on a vehicle and drive forward. The metal is forced to wrap around the tire as the vehicle is driven forward making round rings. Similar to your jump ring jig. For larger rings farmer's often use their large tractor tire to bend them. Anyway, I have always been surprised at the cost of having metal bent to rings and it might be a fine enterprise for the backyard entrepreneur. Often referred to as a cottage business or mom-and-pop. Since the internet arrived such home businesses are thriving due to ease of advertising. Our local city council is having to rewrite their zoning rules because of this rapidly growing home occupations. Out here in rural America where people have enough space to set up such businesses and it has become common practice. This fire pit business is a classic case of a home biz. From what I can tell, if I asked our web gal to step up on the internet advertising this pit business could have a multi-million dollar income. I may sell it to an aggressive partner and watch him run with it and turn it into a higher income business. The sale may involve a contract for a percentage of the income like 5 to 10 percent for me and let him do all the work growing the business. |

I like small businesses, and trading skills.
Recently, I saw a pretty use of your glass --- countertops! Beautiful! This one had a white background, but depending on the glass color, could have other color as well. It was stunning, and a good use of scrap.
