My dad picked this up at a rock shop in San Diego, but I've never seen anything like it before. I wasn't even convinced it was a geode until we cut it. Does anyone have any info on this? Where it's from?

That one doesn't look to be a Trancas geode. If I had to guess, I'd guess one of the midwestern types found in sedimentary rocks similar to a keokuk. Exterior looks very odd and its not a type I recognize. I think perhaps the exterior crust has been eroded leaving just the harder interior....Mel

I have a couple like that-they are from Kentucky...............A bit darker quartz though....
