Alrighty... I'm going to try this using Photobucket and not resizing all the pictures. See if this works.
We had our "big" rock show of the year this past weekend. It's only a large banquet hall kinda room, but it's big by our standards, so it's a must go to event.
So, I went. Did a typical amount of damage to the bank account - but it's our ONLY show!
I went heavy on Malachite (because I LIKE it!), Calcites from Irai City Brazil (because they are becoming very scarce and I have been collecting them for over 10 years) and Florida Calcite specimens (because there simply aren't any more becoming available). Buy the rare stuff!
All the pieces shown here, and in the linked album, are from one seller. I have been buying from this guy for years and years. He is geologist for the state of Florida and we have developed a good relationship, so I trust him and his information.
Here are some pictures (in no particular order) of the booty and I'll add a link to others as there are probably 30+ specimens - so just some highlights.
most of them
maybe my best malachite piece from this show - already have way better specimens, but never pass up a good 'un
another type I kinda "specialize" in is Galena - love the stuff for some reason
just thought this was kinda cool and it is a nice specimen
another really nice malachite. I have so many of these specimens that it has to be pretty impressive to come home
I'm a nut for calcites. This piece is calcite covered with chalcopyrite and a rather rare specimen
this malachite is really interesting in that the bottom is kinda hollow. Had to be sitting on another piece of malachite and thinking that maybe a layer of calcite formed between. When the calcite dissolved, this piece popped off it's lower host rock
yes, I collect adamite too! This is a pretty nice piece to add to that shelf
a couple of the Irai City (Brazil) calcites. I already have better specimens, but... it's getting rare(er)!
Here's another. Most expensive piece I bought at this show. No tag as I believe he (seller) pulled it from his collection.
Picked up several Florida calcites mostly from the Lecanto Mine in Citrus County. They are a bitch to photograph, but I'll try again later when I make time to figure out this new camera (I need a faster shutter speed, just have to re-read how to do that) and I plan to do a thread solely of Florida calcites at some point.
See others at the link below (I hope it works)
That's enough of this, more malachite, calcite and miscellaneous pieces at link.
Also picked up some assorted slabs, but nothing to bother taking pictures of.
Over all... not a bad show.

Kinda different from the usual here, but I am primarily a specimen collector.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
