I picked this hunk of wood up at my local show last weekend. Soaked it in vinegar overnight to clean the sandy almost concrete like gunk off it (There's some on the 1 end yet). I don't know where it's from, never thought to ask the seller. Anyone got an idea? Cool knot in the side and botryoidal agate coating. Here's the ends Thanks for looking & for any ID help.

Wow, lovely piece. Wonder if the growth rings would remain when cabing?

Take slice off of the big end and polish it. It does look similar to pet wood from Wyoming. The wood may have better color after being cut also.
Go on E bay and search for blue forest petrified wood.

The rings would most likely remain; I used to work on thin-sectioned fossil wood, counting the rings and measuring the cells; scintillating ...

Thanks guys. Think I might slice the end off to check inside as Woodman suggested. That'll leave me a nice piece for saving, and a piece to cut a cab from.
