Been kind of busy around here the past couple of months. We did make it to Quartzsite for a few days, although too late for Pow Wow and the barbecue. Got home from that, thought things were rolling along when we had to make another run to SoCal and Las Vegas for family stuff. Finally got home again Thursday evening. Since we were so close we took the time to run over to Death Valley to see the "super bloom" everyone had been carrying on about. Took a few pictures and thought I'd share. A few of these I know what they are, others I have no idea without looking them up. Hopefully Jean will chime in with some help identifying some of these things. Well, photobucket is acting weird. I'll post more pics later or tomorrow. Russ

For ID's I'm going by what I'm seeing in the guidebook. Let me know if I'm wrong, or if there is another local name for something. Desert Gold Desert Five-spot Gravel Ghost Creosote Bush Pebble Pincushion Notch-leaf Phacelia Desert Daisy ? Some sort of aster. Critters eating the pretty flowers This last one is kind of different, and has a tiny yellow flower which I was unsuccessful at getting a decent picture of Notice how I made sure there were rocks in all the pictures? Pretty cool, huh? Not sure it's possible to take a picture in Death Valley without rocks. Colors would have come out better but it was an overcast day (03/05/2016) ahead of the storm system. It was pretty, and it was flat crowded. A couple of people I talked to said they'd never seen so many people there. Only my second time there. I do know that the Park Circus people had been hyping it pretty good. For folks familiar with the area the pictures were all taken in the Beatty Cutoff/Muddy Canyon area. We stayed in Beatty that night-every motel room in town was full of people there for the flowers. Headed north the next morning on 95 and found this at Goldfield. Had a few more pics from our little journey, try to get some posted tomorrow. Just saw Jean's flower thread. On the way south 03/02/2016 the occotillo were just starting to bloom south of I-40, and down by I-10 the Beavertails were just starting. Thanks for looking. Russ
