Need a farm sprayer to spray Round-Up. Old one died. Fimco wants $1300 for skid mount 2.5HP Honda, roller pump. I have a 100 PSI 2.5HP Honda powered gold dredge pump that was converted to an artifact dredge. Keene Engineering pump is wicked powerful and plenty of pressure, a centrifugal and not so sand sensitive like the roller pump. Old sprayer, 1960 Echo back pack sprayer converted to 15 gallon. sits on back of ATV. Loved it, but the engine seized and parts not available anymore. See dry rotted and yellowing original gas tank. Layout this morning, rounding up parts and materials. brain stage One of the most wicked powerful pumps designed by some slick California dudes. Powers the Venturi vacuum on their back pack dredge. 15 years old. Was mounted on a small skid to fit in kayak when not mounted on dredge. Skid laid out. Made from a 12" wide steel ladder that kept getting smaller and smaller. All mounting holes lazily torch cut. All scrap stuff. Lightweight as possible. Pump lowered a bit to improve feed when tank gets lower. 30 gallon tank and pump sitting in intended position. Tried to be as concise as possible. Plumbing is next step. Side port on pump outlet will be valved, piped to tank, and used to mix when pump is dead headed.

That GXH50 Honda engine is a piece of fine work. It has become very popular for many applications. El primo out door large rock saw power plant. Purrs at idle through full RPM. Low oil cut-off, governor, gobs of power. Good ole 5/8 inch keyed output shaft 1.5 inches long. New carb only $28 on Ebay. Weighs nothing.

James, I don't have any experience with sprayers or gas motors, but I do like the DIY spirit I see here on RTH & among my lapidary friends.
I saw a page today with this line "It’s not a fun project if it doesn’t require making a new tool…" & another "Make stuff with your hands while everyone else is watching TV". Lynn

Yes you have a great pump. Little over kill. The pump alone is worth $300. The P-90 is rated at 100 gpm with 160' head pressure. Should be able to spray your whole yard from the front porch. lol I want the 2" model for my sluice. $$$ Keep us up to date. I like riding alone with your projects. www.fredsgoldpanningstore.com/EnginesPumps.html

Btw, it is a pressure pump, meaning it can't take solids. Sand will kill the impeller real fast.

from wikipedia: Many regulatory and scholarly reviews have evaluated the relative toxicity of glyphosate as an herbicide. The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment toxicology review in 2013 found that "the available data is contradictory and far from being convincing" with regard to correlations between exposure to glyphosate formulations and risk of various cancers, including non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).[9] A meta-analysis published in 2014 identified an increased risk of NHL in workers exposed to glyphosate formulations.[10] In March 2015 the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer classified glyphosate as "probably carcinogenic in humans" (category 2A) based on epidemiological studies, animal studies, and in vitro studies.[8][11][12]

rastageezer I have one of the largest populations of native snakes and frogs in the area from created wetland habitats. Dedicated areas to assist the habitat of these animals. I do more than my part to supply a home for these animals. I always ask those that complain about my process and methods what land they have set aside to assist wildlife. i often drain wetlands and kill 100 frogs at a time, but that same space allowed 10,000 to propagate. Maintaining their habitat requires brush removal. Round-Up is the safest alternative. Mammal population off the charts, and I control the deer population with a gun so they will not over populate and die a slow painful death from starvation. My sanctuary is thriving and have many species of birds thought to have stopped migrating thru this area. I am isolated and do not care if Glyco has long term effects on humans, animals are relatively short lived and are likely not effected by it.

Amazed at longevity. Impeller spare sitting here waiting...not used yet. Easy pump to rebuild. seals were my biggest concern. 15 years, no problems with either. I removed the gold carpet and dredged sand in creeks in Florida till the practice was outlawed. Made a drop basket to catch the heavier solids(fossils and spearheads) as the flow passed the deck. Converted it to a 2.5" venturi/suck hose. Used to send it down into the sand and pick up the solids resting on the limestone floor under the sand 1-5 feet deep. Florida lawmen/DNA consider that machine contraband LOL.

It's always nice to have time to make new toys for the man to play with.....Looks like it will work great James... Fingers crossed, if that pump does not work it will be replaced with one that will. Way way under $1300 budget... Had the best time vacuuming sand to collect arrowheads with that beast, can't tell you how much fun that was. One day I got 8. It pumps about 2 yards of sand per hour. You and I know how much 2 yards is. Gravel slows it down, but it gobbled sand like nothing. I will have to post the dredge and the catchment basket, or you can go to Keene Engineering and see their artifact/coin dredge. Good for coins at swimming holes.

Really? You want your kids drinking it? I mean, REALLY? You didn't watch the video did ya. Does the person looking back at in the mirror slap you? If not, your not waiting around long enough. Everything will kill you if you take enough of it. Even water!!!!!!! LD 50 (lower the number the more toxic it is) Round up.....4900 Table salt....3000 Coffee.....191 You let you kids eat salt??? Do you drink coffee? Give your head a shake on your above comment.

For removing nitrates and phosphates from the water using aquatic plants. If he only knew what what is in this countries drinking water from washing his diapers and the fertilizing the food he eats

Good Redneck engineering there James! I can't count the hours I have put on various Keene and Gold diver pumps when in California. I always tried to keep the intake in a bucket, or at least off the bottom as much as possible, but lots of silt and sand still gets sucked up by the intake. Never did experience and problems with wear other than replacing the occasional shaft seal.
