On our way to Quartzsite in January we swung through SoCal. Hanging out with Cyndi's brother on Saturday there were a bunch of old warbirds flying around. One group with twelve planes in formation flew directly over the house. I've always loved the sound of those old radials, and Merlins, and Allisons. On Sunday it was raining-seems like it always rains when I go to the desert-so we all went over to the Palm Springs Air Museum. Pretty awesome place. PT 17. Stearman. I've actually ridden in one of these, my sister's husband had one. His father flew them as an instructor in WWII, then went on to a career with Pan Am-remember them? I'll let you play with the rest of the ID's yourselves. Quiz at the end. Some durn fool was out in the rain taking pictures. He never was too bright. They even had a MIG 21. Well worth spending some time there if you're in the area. Thanks for looking. Russ

Dad flew Navy Corsairs Russ(monster radial). Carriers and land based. Then moved on to F4 Crusader. Amazing machinery.
Crusader was fast, but his favorite was the old Corsair because it was such a fine dog fighter/acrobat plane.
He bought a Pitts after he retired from the Navy. It darn sure did stunts

Some neat old machines. Gonna have to stop and check it out next time we pass that way. I failed the quiz at the end but still enjoyed the pics
