Wings not developed yet but it looks to be one of the Arctiid moths almost like the Salt Marsh moth or a close relative.
Deaths head Sphinx....Cool. Buffalo Bill ( Ted Levine) used to come to some of raptor events in Ojai. You can tell his voice from far away, very distinctive..Mel

A raptor fan, interesting.

Sabre52, white furry caterpillar eats a lot of the aquatic broadleaf foliage here, looks like caterpillar stage of salt marsh moth. Helpful ID, thanks.

Salt March Moth caterpillar is extremely variable. Several closely related species too. There are white ones, but here in Texas, the most common "wooly bears" are brown/black or gray/brown tones. Super common and very damaging larva here too. Very general feeders on a lot of different plants and very mobile too. They are very fast crawlers and often migrate pretty far to find new plants to feed on. Not uncommon to see hoards of them crossing the roads here.....Mel

I do fear this one because of it's mobility. Studied variation. Wool is light beige to near white here. Easy to spot thankfully. Efficient eaters. That one, the China Mark Moth and a couple of leaf rollers give me 95% of the problems. Note taken on their broad diet, about any broadleaf. Rushes on occasion.
