I just finished this COPCO Agate cab. It is 1-1/4" across. Making this cab will be in my monthly column in Rock and Gem Magazine in a couple months. Bob

COPCO Agate is from the area around COPCO Reservoir (lake) in North Central California. It is named from the power company that built the dam on the reservoir - the California Oregon Power Company. Bob

Bob Beautiful cab Bob! I heard a while back that they were going to drain the lake - possibly exposing the area where the agates used to be collected. Do you know if there's any truth to this? Tommy

Tommy, I haven't heard anything about the draining. Could it be related to some kind of mitigation of the problems with the salmon runs in the Klamath River? Bob

Great cab Bobby. There's lots of intensive grinding involved in cutting that stuff. I have a few pieces kicking around from old purchases and your stone is a reminder to me to "get grinding" again. I don't think any of my rough will cut stones as big as yours though.

Tommy, Thanks for the story. Hopefully, removing the dams will free up the collecting area. I have never been there but maybe some of the oldtimers will still be around to show us where to find the material and the government doesn't decide to declare it a national historic site or some such nonsense and block any rockhounding access. Bob
