I have a friend who has recently purchased a couple of pieces of used equipment without motors. I have been unable to find any specific information about these since they are pretty old.
Does any one have any information about the correct motors to use for replacements on these or maybe even a parts list?
They are both Star Diamond products, one is a 6" model 75-10 trim saw, and the other a model TU 6&6 tumbler.
I know there is probably a gear box or something also with the tumbler so any additional information would be appreciated.

6" saw probably came with 1/3 hp, 1725 rpm, continuous duty, open drip proof PSC. A 1/4hp same specs would likely work also but 1/3 hp are easier to find if looking for used.

As John said on the saw motor. For the tumbler, any pics you could post would be a big help. Maybe with the cover off. Some of those older tumblers used gears to drive the barrel. Others used a belt. Unless it is a very large tumbler, both types would have taken a small motor of 1/10 HP or even less.

What about pulley sizes. I know that this affects the speed of the blade or tumbler regardless of the speed of the motor. Is this an issue to be overly concerned with?
Is there anyway to find the original parts list on equipment like this that might give some idea at least of the original design? I have looked but not been able to find it.

You might try posting your question further up the page in the rock tumbler section. Someone may have an old Star Diamond tumbler who can answer your question.
Up until a few years ago I had a 10" Star Diamond saw with weight feed. I gave it away to a friend who was just getting started in lapidary work, but remember enough about it that I may be able to answer questions about that.

There are recommended RPM for barrels and they vary a bit with diameter., you can figure pulleys form online pulley-RPM calculators
With blades, there are recommended SFPM (surface feet per minute). Same pulley calculators can be used. I personally thing some SFPM advice out there is based on older blades. New steel cores usually can go a little faster.
BUT, getting the right SFPM for the diamond abrasive is only half. You need to get the right feed rate. IF the material is softer like dolomite or obsidian, you might be able to use a faster feed and lower SFPM. Lower SFPM makes the metal in the blade less likely to glaze over the diamonds. BUT (another but) if the material is very hard (like dense agate or Bruneau jasper) you need the lowest feed rate you can get.

He is talking 6" saw I think. If it is same as the TS6 that BD marketed after buying Star Diamond they had 2" pulleys so speed was 1725 rpm. Look at the saw on end of the BD Cab Combo and see if it is the same. If so they BD/MK likely have manual on PDF or I think I have the cab combo manual and saw is same. Speed charts in DP and Covington catalogs or multiply motor rpm times motor pulley diameter and divide result by equipment pulley diameter.
