A good friend gave many pieces of geo's ... They got at lake Cumberland in Tenn. Some of the crystals are large and rough and some are solid crystals. Some of the pieces are too small to slab. Tumbling is my only option, I think. Can you tumble the large crystals that are rough or is a waste of my time? ( do the rough crystals just break off?) zero experience with geo's.
They think that because I started tumbling I can make all rocks look nice, but I can only try. With lots of advice I can give it a good try. So...please HELP.

I don't tumble anything except jewelry, but I would throw one in that you don't mind losing and give it a test run.

Any pics of the geodes, Spiceman? I have buckets of geodes from that area and I'll tell you what I see. They are best for specimen display, as is. You may be able to face polish them, but they'll probably crumble on you when you try. Tumbler probably won't give you the results you are looking for either. Just enjoy them for what they are.
