The Whole Earth Festival takes place on the UC Davis Quad every year on Mother's Day weekend. It is a musical and arts festival, and is completely student run. Popular with hippies, young and old. It is a great place to hear new music that is under the radar. Every year, I fall in love with a new band or two. There are usually a few rock vendors, and a few selling stone jewelry. Mostly, they are pretty New Age oriented, but there is some pretty stuff in there (along with man-made stuff like goldstone and altered stuff like titanium-coated quartz). www.flickr.com/photos/36618387@N06/collections/72157667739344525/

Yep. I live in Davis. drop a line if you are around. The Festival takes no money from the University -- largely because of previous jackass chancellors. A lot more independent that way. I tend to be out of town for Picnic Day.

That sounds dangerously like a plan...
