Price for lfrb of jasper tumbles? we've found a few spots on the river that are great for picking jasper. There's an abundance of it as long as the river cooperates and allows us to get to these locations. Its everywhere of course but some spots the the colors are more vibrant, the combination of colors is different etc. Its really fun to pick:)

Okay, I'm new but see no photos anywhere in the threads. Do you still have any of this left?

Thanks everyone for replying. Where do I go to find a slab saw for sale, if any? If not on here does anyone know a good site to look for used equipment? Hopefully closer to Florida than Oregon!

May take a while to find what you are looking for, but there are new pieces of equipment posted all the time. There is a 10" Lortone in Ocala listed, but you didn't say what size saw you are looking for. Or what other equipment. Where are you in Florida?

Most of her 'jasper' is not jasper. I did get a refund. It wasn't easy.

What was it if not jasper? Pictures looked like jasper, but pictures are sometimes a tough way to identify a rock.

What was it if not jasper? Pictures looked like jasper, but pictures are sometimes a tough way to identify a rock. The black red and grey stuff is jasper. The only reasonably nice material in the box. The all grey/lavender stuff is mud, and not even remotely attractive. The orange and blue, mud... Bob, you are so right. Looks are not enough. Indeed, I was deceived and bought a large flat rate box. They arrived and the the box itself was far too light. Once the stones were in hand, you would have easily known they were mis-represented. I busted a couple of each color to see they crumbled into powder quite easily. The jaspers did as expected. Only broke with great force and then with a simple conchoidal fracture. I should offer public thanks to Walt manofglass. He too was deceived and was helping her market her mudstone. He was instrumental in helping recover my funds. He ended his relationship with her as well. I do not believe she has posted since my refund. I have not researched this fine point. I did offer her the opportunity to get ahead of this, apologize, offer refund to those who may also have been deceived, and build huge rapport. This fell on deaf ears. Her boyfriend did offer name calling and written abuse instead. I will respond privately to anyone whom desires further details. I have no ill will to Penny/Wendy. I did receive refund in full, including original postage. The only attractive stone in her box.

I was working in the spearfish SD area one year and found a pile of rock. I got some great fossils off of it, I also got a huge bag of what I thought was jasper of all colors of the rain bow. When I got home I tried to polish some of it and just like your experience it turned to mud. Still not sure what it is. I was in the decorative mulch and stone bagging industry at the time. We had got in some Scoria from out west which is the soil on top of the burning coal seams turning to brick or something of the sort and crushed. This is my guess what I had picked up but in huge chunks. Looks good in the garden though.

Glad it worked out for you. Sure wanted some of those high end Montana's but just couldn't get my finger to pull the trigger. Now I know why and am glad my finger was smarter then my brain. If I remember right that was another 1st post being wanting to sell! I know there is no 50 post rule but remember a number of 1st posters as sales going bad. Sometimes not right away but over time because the main interest is sales not sharing of knowledge.............................MrP

I thought something might have been up @shotgunner Jimi, what is strange is she did end up doing the right thing. She claimed she was unaware of the nature of her stones. I was, seemingly, the first to point this out. I thought if she felt her reputation was important, should could contact each client, give full refund, and then make a public apology. Had she done this, we would all respect her, and she would be a valued seller. Instead, after doing the right thing, the wrong way, with me, she disappears. Sad, really. This is a great bunch of folks. Just be honorable and enjoy the fruits.
