Hi all! I'm new and have a question--if I'm in the wrong place, please point me in the right direction. I have a strand of Terra Rosa jasper flat rounds with a matt finish. Love the beads, hate the finish. Can I tumble them to get a polished finish? Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/#ixzz47uAha9yr

A picture of what you have would help. I would think running beads like that in a vibrating tumbler starting at 500 grit and finishing with polish would work great. I would stay away from rotary tumblers for anything that you want to retain the shape of.

Perhaps the bead maker doesn't try?

For a newbie with no equipment I would be looking for a way to window polish one flat side on a single bead to see if it will work. Diamond paste on hardwood with a little elbow grease maybe? If you already have a tumbler and if your matte surface has a satin gloss at all I would start at 1000 grit with just a couple beads mixed into a regular tumble batch. hollihox if you are located near another member maybe they might be willing to help you determine what kind of polish you can get.
