Hi, my guess is probably not whale bone. The whale bone that I've seen from the coast from Pescadero down to Santa Cruz resembles more of a plain brown dinosaur bone - in fact I have seen people trying to sell dino bone that I know is actually whale bone. Cell pattern yes - it's important but it should be more uniform and distinctive like dino bone examples. I could be wrong. It's a very interesting rock and I'd love to see it cut open

Yeah, I'm with Tommy. I've hunted a lot of bone along Ventura and Santa Barbara co beaches. As Tommy has said, much more cellular looking very much like dino bone except drab. Here's a pic of fairly typical whale as an example....Mel

I wish! If my rock tumbler makes my father mad now, I can't imagine what a saw would do.

Bring it over! we're in Pleasant Hill OK that was probably awkward LOL. The wife and I are toasting our good friend @shotgunner Scott's signature "green bottled beer sucks" ... after a few of these you just kind of blurt things out hahaha.
