I sent him a message telling him that his laker was chert and he didn't like it one bit.
Here was his reply.
i have no intentions to swindle anyone, ive had it examined by many locals and they tell me chert does not have all have the same characteristics, like nodules along with many the other features. you dont like you dont buy. maybe it isnt the record, i just said possible record. i would appreciate if you kept the negative comments to yourself. im not forcing anyone to purchase the rock, or to believe its the record. the pictures are the item and i do my best to take them and keep my 100% feedback. im sorry im not a geologist, but the locals support me to believe it is what it is. my appologies mntrap.

Well, it's cryptocrystallne quartz, agate or chert, but definitely not Laker colors or the banding, eyes etc you'd expect. If it don't look like a duck, walk like and duck, or quack like a duck, heck in my book, it ain't a duck....Mel

Looks like chert to me too - that region has plenty of it, as well as agates. I can see how some people might see that waxy luster and think it is an agate...without a more careful examination.
