Sorry I asked... Surely he has sired pups in the past? Did you provide dog porn? He is a great fore player. He slept next to her all night long in separate crates next to each other. He stimulates, licks, rubs and a bunch of other stuff. Till the female is about gone crazy. But he just does not hit the hoop. Must be the tenth female Lenny has done this with. SOS over and over. He has an appointment to be collected. And Denise will inseminate the bitch. Or maybe Denise will collect him later if her progesterone levels are not right. None of my business. I help w/natural breedings. The collection biz is her doings. She is hollering at me as I type to come attempt another natural. I'm ready for the couch. later Thanks for the smiles, James. He may just be confused about you trying to make him put it in a basketball hoop, sounds like.  ETA: Sometimes I think you take me quite literally. Clearly, I believe you are not lining him up at the free throw line. Just trying to save a little face for Lenny. People have brought their females over from all over the country to be serviced by Lenny. This bitch alllll the way from Arizona. LMAO watching wife and owners of female trying to get Lenny's tool in the hoop. Great anxiety, people want their female bred by him, wife wanting $2000 paycheck and his genes spread to make her kennel shine-Lenny can't deliver. One note about Lenny. He hits the hoop first shot every time when female is ovulating. That is a 48 hour period. It is tricky to get the female here during that exact 48 hour period at times. We have the females progesterone tested, we know when she is ovulating. Never has Lenny failed to do a natural during that 48 hours. Relate this to the old buck in the woods. He lets the teenagers chase the does for months. But when the does are ready at that short ovulation, out he comes and kicks all the young guy's ass' and does the deed. So, in reality, Lenny knows(by smell I assume)when to hit the hoop. And does it with great efficiency and authority. As does the old buck in the woods. From that standpoint, he may be the stud of studs. The breeders like a stud dog that does a natural every 36 hours over a 5 day period. That is just not Lenny's way. So breeding Lenny is nerve racking due to his short window. Do you and I care if lady is ovulating, ha, I don't think so. |

I was wrong about Riley's ACL surgery. Wasn't Friday, it will be tomorrow. Will make sure I bring my camera when we go up on Father's Day (this coming Sunday, when MOST people are celebrating it) and get some pics.
Cutest pup photos, the bubble gum music...well. Wishing wellness for Riley. Riley's ACL surgery was last Tuesday, a week ago. I saw her on Sunday, she was till pretty out of it, and the heat wasn't helping. They are keeping her medicated to keep her calm (four weeks!!).
The conehead, in a pen to limit movement. 
She does not move around much, which is a good thing. But she was not taking water for the first few days, takes it hesitatingly now. Even with the cone off, it seems she is afraid to put her head to the water bowl and drink. We wondered if maybe her head had been forced into the water while she was still in the vet's care? Also not eating much, even her favorite things. Was not being able to keep food down. I think she has another appointment with the vet today.
Not the greatest pic, but I really didn't want to flip her over/assault/annoy/antagonize her. Will take more pics in the upcoming weeks. About all you can see in this is the shaved area, lol. In addition to her regular medications (allergies, joint meds, pain pills, etc), she is like a walking pharmacy! 
The incision was stapled, I don't think anybody uses stitches anymore. Just getting her back in the car when she was picked up, she flexed her knee just a bit (guess they did not think to put a splint on it to keep it from bending?), she popped a staple. She has already returned there once.

Pat , this is the third large dog (2 pitbulls and the Fila) that has had to have the ACL surgically repaired on both hind legs... I think they need to get smaller dogs in the future.
When I was up there on Sunday, they had one fan running, ten feet away across the room, on a three foot tall stand. I doubt Riley was feeling any effects from it down on the floor. When my sister told me she was still not eating, and has another vet appointment scheduled, I mentioned to her she should get another fan, put it closer to Riley, and put it down on the ground where it will do some good. Of course, the heat was on Sunday and Monday, so may not be necessary now. May need it in the next few weeks though, who knows?
They don't have A/C in that house, as there is maybe two or three times in the last 50 years that they have needed it.Yes, they've lived in the same house since it was built in 1966. |

Jean, I hope Riley does well and gets some cool air. He looks very much like the female in a sibling pair we had several years ago...Bonnie and Clyde...an infamous duo. <grin> Loving dogs, though, except for the time I pulled into the yard and saw both of them on the roof of my MGB with both feet dangling down through it (the roof)....they pulled a gangster-get-away 'cause I come out swinging. They did have the proudest looks on their faces when I first saw them there.<sigh> They outlasted the car, though. Ed |

How is Riley doing rockpickerforever ? Is she accepting the funnel treatment OK ? Gotta drink water, or back to the IV. Vet installs IV tap and we do the IV at home in past. Darn dog's lick surgeries open, have to be kept off it. Big job. Hope your parents go to a breed with tight orthepedics next round. Gi Gi had a benign removed from her breast last week. minor Funneled her, she keeps tearing it off and licked the surgery back open. Doc restitched it. Stitches better than staples IMO. Finally found Benadryl puts her in to sleepy mode and probably reduced the itching. Vet tech friend @ dog surgery clinic says they use Bena-Tramadol-Pheno-even Zanex to sedate them. Phenobarbital and Benadryl works best on RR's.  |

jamesp, I saw Riley on Monday. She had her one week checkup last Tuesday, they splinted/wrapped her leg up so she couldn't bend it (guess they didn't want to do that right after the surgery, makes sense) and put blue tape on it. She is eating and drinking normally, and doing well. She also now has her own fan. She has accepted her cone, and most of the time lies quietly on her bed in the pen. My sister gets her up to go outside several times a day. I am now seeing it may be possible to keep her calm for the duration. She was already on something so she wouldn't be so itchy, gets that everyday (Benadryl or phenobarbitol). She also takes Tramadol and another pain one. Like I said, a walking pharmacy! I agree, stitches better than staples. Staples quick and cheap for vet. Human doctors as well. Was the surgery on Gi Gi recent? How is she doing now? I've had dogs pull stiches and staples out as well. Have had it happen when out in the desert for a week. Cricket had to tolerate me stitching her back up again while out there. She was a trooper.

How about both jawing a stick ? Talk about doing what you got to do. Have you had any of Fossilman's hot relish ? Those guys can make some fine preserves. Used to be a South West restaurant near by. Arizona something. Loved that food. Would Arizona style be different from San Diego ? Hope to have a peaceful visit. No surprises. And thanks, will be cautious. Hunting coral on my own. Florida for sure. Fishing w/Nipper. Will visit multitude of cousins. Catch up w/neighbors. 5-12 days. Get property cleaned up for future visits this year. |

Always liked the 'dog side' of people. We had dog parties hear at the farm for years. Because they were people we had an important connection with-their dogs. Like to hear peoples dog relationships such as those in this thread.
