Can graphite powder be used as a polish in a vibe? There is a 1 lb jar on Ebay (Microfyne brand) that is listed under lapidary grit for tumbling, but no real description. I'm not sure that the seller even knows. Thanks!

Graphite is a mohs 1-2. It will cut anything softer.
If you plan to polish talc or other very stuff stuff it could work.
What is it that you are polishing?

Even if it could it would be a major mess.

I just didnt know anything about it. Thanks I have a lo to graphite (powder, flakes, solid) for a project I am working on. The powder gets on to everything and is hard to get off. And as Scott mentioned it is very soft. Not all that cheap either. Better going with aluminum oxide.

Even silver is Moh's 2.5, but it might have a use polishing that ... once you've washed off all the grey. Think soft (art) pencil lead and you're about there.
I have an experiment to run with another soft material after making reasonable observations that it seems to polish silver very well - hair!

Graphite is one of the finest. And messiest. Wicked lubricants on earth. A dry lubricant that has the qualities of a wet lubricant. Used as lubricant when forging steel as it takes super high pressure and super high temperatures. The only way to get it off steel is to let the steel rust and undermine it off. Graphite electrodes carrying serious electrical current to melt steel Typical steel mill graphite electrodes
