On Mother’s Day, I was up before sunrise to catch an early morning low tide at Partridge Island. Most of the early spring rock falls (due to frost) are long past, but we did recently have some heavy rains. As I rounded the headland to one of my favorite coves, this chunk of rock stood out in the distance. Turns out the heavy rains had caused a few fresh falls. This is a combination of orange and golden Stilbite. The green is Celadonite which forms as a thin crust between the Basalt vug and the Zeolite nodule. It measures about 8”x8”x5” and weighs about 7 lbs. There is some minor damage resulting from the fall, and there is still more cleaning required to brighten it up. The first four photos are different views of the top surface. The last photo is a view of the bottom surface. Darryl.
