Well I have my first batch in about 8 years is rolling in the vibe. "The mix is Ahwayhee Picture Jasper, Burro Creek Agate, Green Quartz, Jellybean Jasper, Plume Agate, Maury Mountain Moss Agate and more.". (What I got on Ebay). I'm using a tumble-vibe TV5 (I dont have a rotary tumbler yet). I may be preaching to the choir, but I discovered something while searching for a new vibe. I got a used vibe on Ebay and wanted to get a replacement bowl for the polish stage but the Raytech bowls are at least $25.00. After looking around for an equivalent of some kind I came across a Lyman vibratory cartridge cleaner, Turbo vibe 600, that matched the specs for the Raytech perfectly. The replacement bowls are identical (other than the color, Lyman is orange, Raytech blue) and they are only $16.00! In fact the whole unit is less expensive, around $75.00 as opposed to $100.00 or more. Vert excited! Now I need to open a Photo Bucket account to pst picks. I plan on making jewelry with the finished product.

Steer clear of units that are for cleaning cartridges- the bowls won't hold up very long w/ hard, heavy rocks. They are designed for the gun trade. A polish bowl for the Raytech is essential, IMHO. Don't use any grit coarser than 120/220 or your bowl will be see-thru in no time. The TV5 was my 1st vibe, I wouldn't give very high marks for durability. Had to return it during warranty for a motor gone bad. I part traded it for a Gy-roc model "c" and am fairly happy w/ it. At least when something breaks or wears out on the GyRoc, there are parts that are easily replaced. The TV5 hides the motor inside, no way to get at it without cutting the bottom out. Also the springs are hot glued in place. I wish I could be kinder towards your machine, but been there, done that, lesson learned. I wish you all the best in your tumbling adventure and welcome to the forum.
