Got my first batch out of polish yesterday, mainly fancy jasper (bloodstone/heliotrope/plasma/seftonite), together with some odds and ends of bubblegum agates and miscellaneous japer and agate bits. This material was tumbled in coarse grit for approximately forever. I started picking out pieces of it when finished with medium and accumulated the load going into fine. I left it in fine [SiC 500] for 2 weeks, and in polish (SnO2) for two weeks also. I recently found the email from when I ordered this fancy jasper from superagates back in 2006. It is very hard material: I think part of the reason that I gave up tumbling for a long time was my impatience with this stuff, though it was within a month or so of being done with coarse when I picked it up again. I was surprised at how much it is really more moss agate than jasper, something I didn't really pick up on until it was almost done. I was expecting something more opaque green and red, and while there are a few pieces like that there is a lot of clear chalcedony, as well a quite a lot of lavendar/purple. I really need to start using a real camera too... the white dots you see on the rocks are imaging artifacts, not polish packed into pits Full-resolution pics, if you insist, in album here.

I agree, enter the contest. Those are some really nice rocks with a great polish. I'm surprised the banana didn't take a better shine though. Maybe next time try peeling it before tumbling.
