... and yes, if anyone was wondering those are agates just laying around in a lot of the pictures - especially around the purple cow site where we camped. It's hard to understand how much there is until you've seen it. The ground at the purple cow site is literally covered with unwanted windowed-float that in any other location would be collected in a heartbeat. A lot of it looks white and gray until you crack a new window and see bright purple inside.

Great pictures! So, did the flowers smell nice, too? I was noticing the agate, but I was also looking to see if any snakes were hiding in some of those.

I don't know Tela, I did not have time to stop and smell them... haha No snakes spotted by us all weekend. Other than the usual lizards and a plethora of rabbits, the only dangerous critter we encountered was a small scorpion who had the nerve to get dug out of his hole by drocknut.

We those lupines in pictures 8, 9, and 10? I wouldn't think they would grow in the desert but they sure look like lupines. It's amazing that anything can grow in that dry, rocky ground. They sure are purdy though. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe someone who knows will chime in.

We enjoyed your pics. a bunch, thanks for putting them up. We've been there 8 times, all about this time of year, and have never seen such a bloom. Any tic problems?

None that we noticed. We weren't really looking though, I guess we let our guard down. We feel like we are escaping from the tick problem when we leave the tall grasses of California.

Great pictures. I have a few but don't have good cell service yet. Those flowers are a form of lupine. There are also Indian Paintbrush (red), daisy, delphinium, and Bitterroot all over the place. Ticks weren't too bad but I did get one that tried to snack on me. My friend Frank saw a rattlesnake and we saw jackrabbit everywhere. We saw three bull snakes on the road sunning yesterday. We also heard someone from the Nevada rock club saw a mountain lion near the Purple cow area. Lively place our in the boonies.
