Here's a few pictures of what was taken out of the tumblers during the last month. There are some really great rocks in the mixed rock batches and if I get time I may try to take some individual shots but there almost too many to choose from. Mixed rock. Everything but the kitchen sink. 12 pounds I think all my Quartz family rocks I started at Christmas are finally done. 8 pounds Tiger eye (after crushing) Tiger eye (finished product) 8 pounds I have been doing a lot of experimenting with different polish's and different methods in preparation for final polish on the contest rocks so I have been using bahia agates as my guinea pigs. This is last weeks result. Thanks for looking Chuck

Great shine on those. Lots of goodies to look at. The bahia's have become a favorite of mine.

Wow, what a productive month! No wonder you didn't have time to post much. That first picture is awesome. There sure is a lot to look at there. There are two brown and tan rocks right near the center of the pile. Those are incredible! Where did you find such beauties?
I tumbled some quartz way back when I first started. It turned out ok, but I didn't enjoy tumbling it. To many fractures.
The tigers eye is super cool too. I've only done one rotary load of it, so I have to wait to accumulate more. I've got too many other things filling my barrels right now.
I think my favorite of the whole bunch is the large Bahia in the lower right with all the orbs. You're scaring me with your mad scientist-like polish experiments. My contest rocks suck. I am not happy with how fractured that stuff is. I'm not sure if I fractured it or if it came that way. I'll be lucky to find five good rocks.

Every time I think I am fracture free more seem to appear. I told you before the contest that I had tumbled that stuff before and hated it. At this point I am just going to try to out polish the rest. Will 5 fracture free sub par polish rocks win or will 5 slightly fractured super polished rocks win? Experiments so far include rotary polish stage, loto polish stage, sonic polish stage and then A/O polish, Ceruium Oxide polish and tin oxide polish. Each time I go back to 500 and start over. Chuck

Great tumbles. I need more patience for my quartz pieces. I would like to work with some Tiger's Eye. Where does yours come from? Is there a domestic location I could hound some?

Amazing! I don't know if I have enough time left to polish all the quartz I'm finding. It's like starting a good book series and waiting for the next one. My patience is growing shorter in direct relation to my age.

Wow!! You have been busy. Glad to see you back. They all look great!! I agree the contest rocks are being difficult. I think I have only pulled out three that are ready to move on to 120/220.

Chuck explodes on the scene with a splash ! Great Drummond tumbles as usual. Where have you been hiding ?? Lurking in the shadows. Mostly just tumbling and slabbing but need to get back to cabbing and wrapping soon though. Chuck

You tumblers amaze me. I was drooling over the quartz tumbles and read that you started them at Christmas. How in the world do you find the patience to do that? I would never last as a tumbler. And, good to see you post

And, good to see you post Thanks Tela- I am not the most patient person so over time I have come up with a system that yields at least 3-4 pounds of finished tumbles every week. The trick is lots of rocks in stage one grit at all times. On average I have to have 24-36 pounds rolling in stage one at all times in order to be able to pull out 3-4 pounds of flaw free rocks for the loto. If I only had one 3 pound tumbler for stage one then I would only get polished stones once every 10 weeks. Does that make sense? Chuck
