Sorry haven't been on the forum for awhile-spring gardening and other things get in the way of my rock cutting... Did a few rocks, fossils and some "Fordite" the other day..... Believe it or not,I have never ever made a cab (rock),so I have the machinery to do so, so gave it a try, getting better at it and it's free hand... (the only way I will ever cab)... A bit more practice and I should have it...Thanks goes to my tutors...James "The Hammer",Roy and Jean for pushing me toward it... Two thumbs up to you all... Cut up some green moss agate rough, from eastern Oregon.... I have lots of thundereggs, with the caps missing,so I just slab them up-most make it to the tumbler-some will get cabbed... Also have a bucket full of busted ammonites...I am slicing them in two and will be made into cabs... Years ago,I was picking up the busted fossils and sticking them away in buckets-everyone was asking,"What the heck are you going to do with those broken things"??!! Well years later,it's paying off!! LOL The only time I have sold any, was to Ralph and Mary (a few years ago).. Ralph nailed it with the cabs he made with them.... The back side of the fossils, after cut (interior).... Messing with Forite,Detroit Agate,or as it is,over spray paint from railings...LOL (Where ever it came from)... Still some work to do on these, just the rough stage now...Thanks for looking!!

James "The Hammer" is wrapping (Fordite) a few for me,going to see how they turn out......Most of these were the burly, bumpy, ugly ones in the bunch... People are liking them..

Hey Mike, great post! Like you, I have never made a cab although I have all the machines needed and then some. I really like your freehand work. Maybe I'll have to try it someday...
Sorry, but as cool as your Fordite cabs are, I think those ammonites are the show winner here. Very interesting !!

Sweet! Keep at it, looks like you're on the right track. The interior of those fossils are interesting.

Nice work, Mike! I knew you had it in you. Just needed a little shove...
The Fordite is cool, but the fossils steal the show! Two Thumbs Up, lol.
