Hello!! I'm just getting my four 3lb barrels rolling after letting them sit for about 8yrs. I ran across a bag of about 20 or so Geodes that I had stashed in the garage and started cutting them open on the tile saw. From the weight of them I'm guessing about half of them will be these solid nodules. If I quarter these up and put in plenty of smalls with them will they tumble and eventually take a shine? Is that Agate in the center? I know I'd have to get rid of the matrix at least... Anyway, would love to hear your input! Excited to get tumbling again!

Geodes, both solid and hollow have been a disappointment to me. Usually best off slicing them in half and flat lapping to shine.

Yes, it is agate in the center.
Unless u have a grinder, it may take a long time to get the ribs grind off.

Great, thanks for the information gentlemen. If I run out of stuff to tumble I'll give them a try with some really hard small stuff. Thanks again!
