Here in central NY, the best places for rock hounding aren't hills, valleys, or washes! The best locations are storage units! These are some of the picks from the collection of a long time rock hounder who passed away several years ago. If anyone has some ID's for any of these, I'd love to hear about it! 1. I liked the colors in this piece: IMG_3664_zpsgoisrz3q by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 2. Some poppy jaspers of some sort. The 'poppies' on the first one are rather large IMG_3665_zpsbxm864p6 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_3639_zpslurfvebm by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 3. At one point the name of this stone was in my head, but it has since disappeared! IMG_3666_zpsxb2ifhqo by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 4. Looks like it is trying to be a lace agate IMG_3667_zpsx1oput1m by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 5. Flame agate maybe? Two views of same piece: IMG_3668_zpsvsfcbu35 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_3669_zpslgnfk8jw by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 6. These next couple where in a bucket that had a small piece of Ocean Jasper that was face cut. In the dim light of the storage unit, these next couple looked like the might also be OJ but now I am not so sure IMG_3670a_zpsl5vbidqq by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_3670_zpsrddv4x0r by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_3661_zpsrwqfm900 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 7. A couple of Plume Agates: IMG_3672_zps0nbkzqax by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_3673_zpsrmu6bb0u by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 8. Coral? A pic of the outside and inside IMG_3675_zpsv1jwmrme by Shiny Objects, on Flickr IMG_3676_zpsyegnxwdr by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 9. Unknown! IMG_3677_zpsfb3sbar4 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 10. Some stabilized turquoise. Hopefully the pieces are solid. IMG_3679_zps6j2l3d4j by Shiny Objects, on Flickr 11. Some petrified wood IMG_3680_zpsj9kbueak by Shiny Objects, on Flickr

#1 could very well be Lavic Jasper or even a Stone Canyon variant #2 Indian Cobra Jasper, actually a form of pisolite or fish egg stone. Comes in a ton of colors #3 Hornitos Poppy #4 Rosetta stone #5 sagenite #6 Ocean Jasper #7 Graveyard Point Plume #8 Agatized coral #9 could be chapenite or Burro Creek Brecciated or Trinidad Jasper but would say the first two are more likely

1. looks a lot like a material we collect in central Nevada but - jaspers that color could come from almost anywhere in the west.
9. is Burro creek brecciated jasper agate (I have a bunch of it if you need photo confirmation)

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I now have names for most of my finds. #1 reminded me a bit of stone canyon jasper, but I wasn't sure. I guess I'll go with that for now. For #9, I'm leaning more towards burro creek brecciated.
No one took a guess at #3. Well Saber52 did, but I think he meant the 2nd pic in #2. It feels lonely without a name! Any ideas?

No, he named #2 also. And as for Hornitos Poppy Jasper, there is no better expert than he. He lived there with jaspers on his ranch...

Pic #3 is this, which is not hornitos poppy jasper: The 2nd #2 pic is this, which looks like hornitos poppy jasper I shouldn't have put two pics under #2 to avoid confusion.
