I thought from the end cap that this might be a special piece of wood but I was not prepared for the inside... Any ideas where this might have originated from would be appreciated. End cap... Boom! haha I was not expecting this.

Off hand I would say that it looks like Hampton Butte wood to me. I have a lot of that stuff and there is quite a variety in porosity and green, tan and white color in them.

My wife and I looked at the pics., agreed on Hampton wood, scrolled to the first comment, and we agree. A very nice piece.

Those will polish up real good. I was at Hampton Butte on Sat but did not find anything that good. Did find a real nice projectile point tho.
