I bought some tumbling rough on ebay and while sorting through them I found some have cracks and pits in them. I have read that the bad spots should be removed before putting in the tumbler. I know some people use a grinder but I don't have a grinder. What can i use? I do have a dremel tool but have no idea what bits could be used. Any ideas?

Get your bits from jadecarver.com I use
36 grit tire bits

You'll need diamond bits to grind rocks. Harbor freight has sets of diamond bits really cheap. Go with the cheap ones until you get the feel of grinding on rocks.
Diamond bits should be used with water. I hope you have the flex shaft attachment for your Dremel. Don't try wet grinding with just the hand piece. Electricity & water don't mix.
