I just had to display some photos of my good pal Garage Rocker's cuts. I sent him some rough, this is what he sent back(including a few pounds of tumbling rough and 60/90 grit ). From Niland, CA... epic... This, too, is from Niland. Also from Niland... Niland locality... again... From Jackson county, KY. From Rockcastle county, KY. Nice botryoidal chalcedony cavern. That's all I got for now. Thanks, Garage Rocker.

Thanks Adam, hope you like what I got done. Wish I could have done up the bigger pieces for you, my tile saw wasn't a match for some of it. That thunderegg is one you need to get done right. At least you get to see what's in those rocks you've been holding. Enjoy the tumbling rough I sent, it's an award winning stock. It seemed a waste to send back a box that wasn't filled to the max.

Where is Niland? What is the first one? Great rocks guys!!! Niland is in southern California almost 40 miles from the Baja California, Mexico border. Out there you can hear and feel the blastings of a bomb range in the Chocolate Mountains and hunt doves by the Salton Sea. Also, as I mentioned, a decent place for rocks and minerals. There is a motel in Niland where you can stay cheap and you can hunt rocks just about everywhere that's not developed as long as it is reasonable amount, I suppose. Orrum, the first one is some sort of jasper. Reminds me of picture jasper or something, very pretty color pallet. It's breccia a little in the center. I love the thunderegg the most. Need someone to cut some slabs and polish it up. But not yet.

That's closeto me in Q in the winter then Scott! Is that The Slabs area? Yes, I hounded a few miles away from the Slabs and Salvation Mountain. Never went that far, though. Too many shady people for my gullible persona.

Too many shady people for my gullible persona. It's a strange part of the world. Slab City? Omg...... Smart to stay away Adam. Did work take you there?

Some girl that's my girlfriend now took me there... the poor girl can't read or do basic math. She's 21. Don't know what to do with her. She lived at the slabs as a child and in Niland for most of her life. Harsh. And I dropped out of college to go to California! Yeah, I regret that decision.

I moved back to Kentucky five months ago, but I say Kentucky is boring. I like dangerous. So the desert really suits me.

I see you've been asking around about geodes. Adam and I both live in an area with geodes. Depending on the county you are in, they vary greatly. Some are crumbly quartz, some are chalcedony, some have the banded KY agate and some have a light colored amethyst and crazy crystal formations. Location matters. Here is some I picked up this Spring.

I just packed up three FRBs for trades with other members and I'm slim on rocks right now. Cooler weather will get me back out there before long.
