You're making me jealous with that new camera. Those macros are sweet. Maybe the wife would like a rugged/waterproof, perfect for rocks, point and shoot for her birthday.

As long as she does not read this plot... Sequential firing sequence of larvae performing alligator role to fend off ant attack, shutter button held about 2 seconds. click thru photos quickly to get video effect. 17 frames. all stayed constant: ISO 100 f4.9 1/250. File size 1.8-1.9M/photo. I believe it defaults to 3M setting at 15 fps and 60 fps sequential. Or the Mac grinds the photos quickly. Since flickr allows a free terabyte, cramming 10 to 20 second shutter hold downs making 100's of sequenced photos loaded to flickr makes an easy short video. Does anyone know if yo can direct load straight to flickr using high speed connection(like camera info cable straight to PC) ? Loading 200 photos at a pop via SD card takes a while. Am using 32G card. But I think camera only does 4G blobs/single sequence. No complaints, short videos in a sort at 3M file/frame. Photographer's delight. best to tripod on macros even at high light 1/250. Plu holding shutter shakes camera. Camera can be triggered via cell phone, that's for sure, Bluetooth I presume. Camera may be able to be full menu controlled via remote cell phone I believe. Dang instructions on CD. Only basic instructions built in camera. |

Great pictures. Hope you don't mind me adding some. Took this out at the claim. This guy was no dummy. I would find him every morning camped out under the fire pit. He was the first on the hunt each day.   |

bushmanbilly, that toad needs to go on a diet. Vivid photos and add away. Looks like a white disc under the toad, 2nd photo. Certs ? Aspirin ?

Not sure what that is. Would be a hard pill to swallow as that toad is over 4 inches long. He had no problem eating the baby mice I found in my camper. Picture taken with my new S-6 edge.

Darn cell phones getting to be fine cameras. Advent of CMOS and CCD technology is getting better and better. Your toad appears to be very healthy. Frogs eat or try to eat anything, no matter size. They are possessed. |

Great pics! That toad is freaking awesome. Beautiful species!...Mel Hard to ID frogs/toads when they are young. Lots of changes occur before coming adults. I have done my share of populating the area w/frogs. Consider first wetland and the last wetland in a series. The first one has had bass established, like 3-5 pounders. The last one did not have bass for 5-6 years. Surprising how the wetland without bass had such a large population of frogs. Some tall bamboo I grow took over the shore of 1/4 acre pond. Extreme population of frogs in bamboo. Nothing like it. The frogs are bad about falling from the bamboo. I think the growth rate of the bass in that pond is highly accelerated from eating the falling frogs. Which leads to an interesting arrangement for a commercial fishery. I could imagine long canals with heavy growth of bamboo along shores leaning over water being a self feeding monster. With 30 foot wide canals, 60 foot tall bamboo would lean against each other and form a self supporting arch of frog habitat. Insects>frogs>fish, and the bamboo grows exceptionally well at water's edge. |
