Finished, refinished and re-refinished. Is it always like this? Re-touched the shaping and repeated the above. I didn't want to go for a circle as I wanted to keep a reference to the oblate setting sun in my beach photos. Doesn't look all that much different to before ... Please tell me you can see the difference! This is a piece I hounded on the beach at Whitby on the English North Sea coast, earlier in the year. It was just sat around looking all innocuous like a pebble for a while, when I decided to cut it whilst thinking what to do for this competition. Then 'Bingo'!

Been looking forward to my first contest and i totally forgot to take a photo in daylight so all you get is a crappy iPhone photo taken in the kitchen as the day is running out here in Denmark. The rock itselfs comes from a Parking lot somewhere in the States and is probaly some kind of rhyolite. On our roadtrip during the States we were a bit surpriced by the heat, so we decided we needed a couple of days at the Beach, so we booked a nice hotel right on the Beach in Biloxi. It meant we had to drive a bit longer the we normally did pr day but we managed to solve it with some icecream Andrea 3 years We arrived a couple of hours before checkin so we parked the car dieing to go to the beach and we were happy to see a really nice Beach with trees, White sand and the kids were laughing and singing on the Way Down to the water. But something was wrong!!!!....there was this lovely Beach, the sun was shining and it was a really nice day BUT there was not a single person on the beach besides us! Me screaming at the kids not to go into the water and the Oldest had allready dipped her toes in the water giving me THAT look(if you have teenageres you know the look)! But it turned out to be some kind of Flesh eating bacteria in the water so we spend the next 3 Day in the pool. But my cab is going to be a fun memory of that Beach as the red in the cab symbolizes the bacteria in the Water. Mona

Ocean Picture Rock from British Columbia. I was hesitant to post this but after thinking about it for a couple of weeks I decided to go ahead and honor the memory of Tom. I would not have the pleasure of owning this material to create beautiful cabochons from if it weren't for Tom working on my behalf. Same thing as in last month's contest - this slab is over a half an inch thick so after trimming out the shape of the cab I had to turn it on it's side and thin cut it down middle.

[ Yeah...It makes a big differense the reshaping...it's much more true to your inspiration now. Really nice and well executed.

Pretty colours, almost like looking at a seascape in Google Earth. How great is it that you have a rock that will remain forever to remind you of a dear friend. So precious!

Nice cab Tommy , If you would please post an individual photo to use for the voting that would be good. I had to create that new rule as I found keeping all cabs in the voting photos the same size is difficult with combined photos.

(A message from terrestrial ecology perhaps?) Do I catch tones of blue in there too? Just a thought re " a Parking lot somewhere in the States " doesn't sound too salubrious. Always better to try to note a location, even a rough one and yeah, it may have come from a parking lot but as per the 2017 Tumbling comp, (Lake) Lavic Jasper sounds better than States Parking lot Jasper and if you even have just the state, e.g. California Rhyolite ... you get the idea, I'm sure!
