June 2016 Fun Cab ChallengeThis is a challenge to yourself... What is the best cab that you can create... posting the results of your creation whatever the outcome. Theme chosen by prior winner metalsmith : Beach, boast and sea as a summer theme; colours, patterns & possibly even textures. What ideas and motivations does this throw up? Rule update please read.Rules: Cabs entered must be completed by the deadline (they can be started before the month but only finished during the month). You must have 1 preform / slab / or pre design photo of the rock. You can enter up to 3 individual finished piece (not combined) photos and 1 of the 3 photos will be used for voting to see what cab folks like the most (please note the photo you want used). You can change your photos or improve your cab and place new photos in your original post replacing old photos. Finished jewelry cabs may not be entered (unless otherwise specified). It is OK if there is a hole drilled in the cab without a jump ring, as long as there is no extras on the rock (wire, chord, etc.) All entries submitted to this contest must be unique to this competition (not submitted in several different competitions). Any duplicates will not be included in the voting list. Feel free to share with us the story behind your workings or material. Also, don't forget to include the name of the material. If a tie occurs in the voting the breaker will be whoever submitted the finished item first. Prize :

The last minute of the month for the timezone each person that enters lives in. How do you police that? The server has one time. Not one time per time zone. The server will time stamp an entry. Who has the task of learning the users time zones and subtracting hours? Just use server time. Level playing field, no arithmetic required.

Got it metalsmith thanks for the clarification. I have one started with the intentions of entering it if I can get the motivation to finish it. It's been too hot here for cabbing in a garage with no air conditioner.

There's still a short time remaining to finish your entries and get them in! Two of these images are small cabochons that look like the sun... the other is a small sun that looks like a cab... Still another picture to go (after another repolish) but work in progress.

The beach is a long way from home, it been awhile since I was there. We have, no we had a lake about a mile away but the first photo sums that up I though I would have trouble find a stone that reminded me of the beach but here it goes Kind of reminds me of the surf meeting the sand with pieces of seaweed thrown in

Here is my entry for the 'beach' theme cab contest. The first thing I thought of was a Brazilian agate I had previously cut. I don't have a photo of the slab I used for the cab, but this is the cut just before it.
Kinda wish I hadn't already tumbled that one. Anyway, this is what I came up with.
