fos 1 (Small) by Les K, on Flickr This is one of the rocks we picked up while in AZ last winter. I started a batch in the tumbler last week of mixed AZ rocks. Yesterday I checked the progress and found this little guy. By mistake it went back into the tumbler for further grinding. I happened to remember it this morning so I pulled it out of the batch and the red spot looked smaller by about maybe half. Before I do any more damage what would you recommend my next step should be. Stop and set on shelf, or clean thoroughly in clear water than proceed to polish with the next batch ready for polish. Thanks. One more pic for size. fos 3 (Small) by Les K, on Flickr

That looks like a small piece of rhyolite from Keenan Camp.

Determine if its limestone or something else likely to be a sedimentary product. It its rhyolite, its not likely to be a fossil (volcanic origin), but if its sedimentary, that round thing that looks sort of biological is indeed likely to be something fossilized. However you may have destroyed it unless its clearer once you cut below the surface. Just thinking outloud.
