I have a lortone Ls 12 slab saw that doesn't cut true. I can't figure out how to make any adjustments to square it up. Has anyone ever had to adjust their saw and if so what do l need to do?

From Lortone's SAW ARBOR SHAFT REPLACEMENT AND BLADE ALIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS for Lortone's 10" and 12" saws. The blade alignment portion begins with step #9 so that is the step I begin showing here: It should be noted however that the instructions are not complete. There have been a few sub-steps left out of steps #12 & #13's instructions. And they are as follows: Step 12-b. Experience a sudden and unexpected bout of phantom Tourette Syndrome. Step 12-c. Spastically throw wrench across room and scare the crap out of the cat. Step 12-d. Retrieve wrench and start the whole process over. Step 12-e. Experience a second bout of phantom Tourette Syndrome. Step 12-f. Curse the unknown, unnamed person who designed this saw. Step 13-b. As an after thought wish that you had gone ahead and replaced the bearings while you were at it, and pray that you don't have to do this procedure again any time soon! Hope this helps! Larry C.

jrock I use this same procedure with one difference. I have never seen a blade that is perfectly flat so I mark the blade where the pencil is touching it then turn that point on the blade to the back so the pencil is lined up with the same point on the blade when the carriage is moved to the rear. You can see why I do this by turning the blade with the pencil almost touching the blade. The wobble will be noticeable when the edge of the blade gets closer and further away from the pencil. If you have no wobble (lucky you) you do not need to do this. If you do have wobble the same point on the blade will be true front and back. I try to not over tighten the blade so my problem is probably from buying cheap blades. BUT, even out of whack the saw cuts super smooth and I am quite sure my saw came over on the Mayflower or shortly there after. As far as the b,c,d,e, and f rules go I have managed to stop throwing tools when I am trying to reach the nuts behind the blade (the cat died from it's wounds) but I had to shave my head to keep from pulling out what hair I have left. I just had a light bulb go off somewhere in my brain. If I would tack two nuts to a bar or rod at exactly the right width I could do all the loosening and tightening from the top and would only have to reach back there when I installed new bearings. I am moving so the saw is empty. PERFECT TIMING. Thank you so much for asking this question at this time. Jim

Quailriver Thanks for the information. I just finished the adjustment and it worked fine. Where did you find that anyway. I've looked all over and couldn't find anything to help me out. Thank you again. jrock

Thank you again. jrock Happy to be of service! The instructions came along with a replacement arbor I had ordered from Lortone for an LS-10 saw. Larry C.
