Ok, here's some info. As to why.
Our 1st Family summer break vacation road trip from Illinois to Vegas with multiple FAMILY type stops over a period of almost 2 weeks, since Vegas was the destination for my husbands book/CPU/VMware convention, And then more stuff after his speech stuff was over. WELL, 3 1/2 - 4 hours down the road in Iowa, our family dog who came EVERYWHERE with us got out at a gas station, had a seizure and pasted away, right there, all 4 1/2 white fuzzy pounds of him hopping around wagging his tail and right in front of us and our kids, who have known him as - their little brother - for 12 years almost, they were like 2 and 6 when we moved in and took control of the our hearts and our home, as they say. This was so unexpected we could not register that it actually happened, he saw the doc 2 days early and her words were that he was like a svelte 6 year old. So, we turned the car around and headed back home with him wrapped up in a blanket, to take into the vet for his cremation. TRIP #1 cancelled
Trip # 2nd- heading to the outer banks, n.c., planning to leave this morning, 3 hours from now actually, Another long drive but we don't mind them at all, I love to see all the different places, have to say it never fails to amaze me or my cameras storage bank how much BEAUTIFUL country we have in the U.S. We need some fun family time together. We may only get 1 or 2 more summers before they are doing their own thing, college and all that life stuff. Well here's the kicker- I ended up in hospital 2 days ago, hoping I would be better in a day or 2 at most, but I think I need to go back to doc, Monday, at the moment right now almost 90% sure we will have to cancel this one also. To much pain.... My only hope was that I could offer them a Michigan trip to mackinac island ( they loved it there on a previous trip ) with some stops along the way for rock hounding, agates or petoskey stones, or ANY other rock that may be in the area, I believe someone said pudding stones are there but I do not know where to look for any of these things either.
So, can someone, anyone please please please help with location info, good spots where we can go, between an Illinois and Michigan/ mackinac island route, I don't mind going out of the way some for a good place if there is something. I have been to Michigan a few times but never able to do much rock searching and never had the chance to hunt for stuff on the island when we were there before so I don't know if there is anything good to look for there or not. I am so sorry this is so long but wanted to let u know why we are so desperate for ideas. I am searching online now but if I can't find some good options i may just try and go for it, I can't cancel on them again, I don't want to lose a year with no family summer fun, I just really don't want to end up back in hospital in n.c , or along the way somewhere. So if u know any places that u can let me know about it would be great.
Not expecting some miracle or people's private picking spots just what ever u can help with, places or even if it's not rock related but u think of something worth checking out along the way I would love to hear about it...
Thank u guys so very much ( my spell check has gone nuts so sorry if it makes any changes that don't make sense somewhere)
