So I have a dual QT-66 Lortone rotation tumbler and been happy with for the last 18 months or so. But I would like to get a vibration tumbler so I can shape them with the rotation tumbler then do a quicker finish with the vibration.
I looked at several different options including the lot-o-tumbler and a few others. I like to spend around 200 or 250 for the unit.
I heard some issues with the lot-o-tumbler in noise and movements.
Any suggestions?

I run a UV-18 and have found this to be a good machine. One exception is the center rod rusting out and then difficulty tightening the bowl without extra nuts.

Very pleased with my Lot O. No complaints about noise from family. Great results. Movement? As in hard to move after you attach it to cinder blocks? Because it won't move on it's own when properly anchored.

I mean the garage is not in its final configuration yet (moved several months ago) and really may not be for a couple of years. I suppose it can be done, but how much of a hassle is it? How much do those cinder blocks filled with cement weigh?

I can pick mine up, I think it's around 75-80 pounds, but much easier to push around. It would be easy to move with a couple people.

An 8" x 16" x 4" will weigh 36#. Someone here has gone that route. I can't remember whom. You can put that on a 2x4 frame and add handles for better lifting.

I ordered my lot O today. Should be coming by Fedex ground I hope to have it next week. I need to start reading how to use it now vs my QT-66 rotary tumbler.

The single setup can be done with the block in the HD ad below. Very quick and easy!

You're going to love it. Did you fill the hole in the bottom of the barrel with epoxy? It keeps ceramic from getting lodged in there. Be careful to prevent rust. Mine has just a little rust On the front of the part that holds the barrel. When you open the cap to check on it, water from the cap drips down the front, causing rust. Always dry your barrel before putting it on the machine and have a rag handy to wipe any drips from the cap before they run down to the metal.

I am saving my pennies for a Lot-O and have been reading reviews, posts and watching YouTube videos. I have a question about the red lid on the barrel. How does that stay in place. From what I've seen it looks like it just slips on. Has anyone had it come off during operation? I would imagine if it came off and you weren't aware of it your slurry would dry out in a hurry. The reason I ask is when I had the HF vibratory tumbler the lid coming off was a major issue.

The reason I ask is when I had the HF vibratory tumbler the lid coming off was a major issue. I have had lids pop off and come home to a dried out mess! About 2 months ago I started using a small square (approx. 6"X6") of Glad Press and Wrap under the cap. Since then, I have used the same pieces and had the lid fall once with the Press and Seal still in place, holding in the moisture. I need to cut a few new pieces, as they lose a little tack over time. I did cut a small slit in each piece, for gas release.

The reason I ask is when I had the HF vibratory tumbler the lid coming off was a major issue. My lid has popped off too. I think it is usually from a larger rock that gets pushed up into the lid. My solution is super simple and effective. I tied three largish rubber bands together. There's a cylindrical knob that sticks out the bottom of the barrel. I hook one end of the rubber band on that knob, then run the rubber band up over the lid and hook the other end back on the knob. The lid has never come off with the rubber band on.

I did not fill my tub hole at the bottom. I saw it and figured I will get it down soon. I have a pile of 6 X 18 X 2 pavers in the back yard. I glued 3 together, painted them black with old paint. Then stuck the lat-o on the black bricks.
I did have my cap come off once already. You need to make sure it is tight.
Thanks for the rust tip. Fortunately it so dry here in the high desert moisture dries up fast. But I will watch for it.

Thanks for the tips on the Lot-O. I've printed them and will save them for when I get it.
