I been looking at several options on a 10" trim saw. I found the TS-10 / TS-10-c Lortone saw but 700.00 ouch. So when I looked at their catalog I saw the TS-10 which is no motor, blade or base. It has a optional motor for 300-022 which is 1/3 HP @ 1725 RPM. So since I have the welder, etc I was thinking to build a frame my self. So my questions 1. Look at motor on amazon.... www.amazon.com/Smith-GF2034-Sleeve-Bearing-Blower/dp/B006P1MATM this looks like it will work. 2. With these types of saws are the blade direct connect to the blade or is there a belt with pulley to get higer RPM? 3. Water system. Does the blade simply ride in the water or oil which brings it on the blade or is there a pump system? Thanks

Blade on trim saws normally dips into water or oil and carries it up to cutting surface. Just barely, in the range of 1/4 to 1/3" up on the diamond edge of the blade. Most saws are belt driven. In principal that allows the speed to be adjusted depending on blade size. High end professional saws can be direct drive (faster rpms allow a thinner saw blade to run true, but make it easier to cut yourself). I"d count on using belt and pulleys even though that takes a bit more bench room. Any motor that has 1725 will probably meet your needs. Saws normally don't need capacity start like grinders that are spinning much more mass.

What RPM would be best to bring the blade to on a 10" or 14"?
