I've had some pretty good hounding this week. Check out this laker. And here are some from this morning.

The first photo, I am trying to decide, to tumble or not tumble. The second photo with the four lakers and the large jasper, I think I am going to tumble.
On the second photo I am thinking it is jasper but not certain. It is very waxy looking and there are chips in feathery patterns. Would appreciate any input. (on the far left)
It is funny, the Laker in the first photo I found while out hunting with other hounds. When I found it, it was covered with dust and mud, but I still knew it was special, so I quickly shoved it in my pocket to contain my excitement. We all met at a friends house afterwards for a bar b que and show off our finds. I went to the wash bucket to verify what I had found and about P'd myself, but did not.
One of the club members offered me $200 for it. Sorry not for sale.
Now, do I tumble or not? Guess I am going to have sleep on that one.

That first one is a great find for sure.
To a true collector of laker agates, the real value is in as found condition. Value will be lost by tumbling, or in any way polishing it. Instead of tumbling try soaking it for a day in something like Super Iron Out, followed by at least a day of soaking in plain water. Change the water several times. After you've let the agate dry completely, heat it in an oven to about 130 degrees & put it in a bowl of mineral oil to soak. Let as much oil as possible drain off of your agate & buff it with a soft cloth. You'll find that the colors have been much enhanced without removing any of the agate with sanding or tumbling.
I'm a collector of Fairburn agates, and this is how I clean & treat mine.
