Have been tumbling serious for awhile now, time to unload many pounds...I have a buyer that owns a store-Question is what to charge per pound on material.... I just put anything and everything into the pile...Easier that way... It's not the money that interests me,but I just don't want to burn a buyer either... Thank you for any input...

Mixed rock I sell for $10 per pound. Dedicated batches like tiger eye, apache tears, and pudding stone I go as high as $25 per pound. I have a an actual breakdown of what it costs to completely tumble 10 pounds of mixed rock from the rock shed. I posted it here years ago and that is what I base my $10 per pound number off of. Cost of rocks, costs of grit and cost of electricity. Very hard to charge labor on tumbles.

What kinda tumbled rocks do you have for sale? Montana agate,Lakers,Oregon material, jasper's,Wyoming rock,etc.....Kind of putting a test box out there for the person buying them.. She has some tumbles from a guy she bought from, but they are pretty plain beach agates-she wanted colorful,so that's what she will get... If this goes over good,I plan on selling than..... But for now, just this one time......In the mean time,we have 12 Grandkids that love Grandpa's tumbles...LOL

I was asking because I'm thinkin' that what the rock is has to matter. As Chuck wrote, there are $10 a pound rocks and $25 (or more) a pound rocks. You selling different type stones at different prices should be expected and will help the buyer understand what they can be sold for retail. You don't want to burn the buyer, but don't shortchange yourself either. Lotta work goes into quality tumbled stones!
