Just was gonna show you some of my rock hounding finds. Went on a overnight float down the Strong river. I was able to do probably a hour of rock hounding. The rest of the time was spent in the kayak fishing. Here is a teaser...I have to take more photos because a lot were blurry. Can anyone identify #1?
#1
#2Strong River Red Agate
#3 Strong River Agate
#4 Mississippi Pet

Très fort.
Don't know what #1 is, but it should tumble well.

I'm no expert, but pic #1 looks to me like a quarter, maybe from around 1988 or so. It's next to a rock of some kind, which I can't identify. (Thank you, I'll be here all week, ladies and gentlemen!) It *looks* like a brown jasper to me, but I can't tell if that's a color variation or translucency. Cool stuff!

Sard is the darker variety of carnelian so I'mma assuming #1 is sard. Very nice piece, when tumbled the outer crust will disappear and leave a beautiful sard. 1-3 will make fantastic tumbles.

I was wondering if that crust would will turn into slurry. It is translucent but it goes to opaque. So it is due to translucent and also has color variation due to light
