We are replacing our 22 yr. washer and drier tomorrow, and I was wondering if the motor from the washer would be any good for a diy flat lap. Motor still runs. Have not pulled washer out to check mounting, yet. I will have today to salvage motor if it is feasible.

I pulled the motors from a washer and a drier for this reason but have not set them up yet. The only issue I see is that the motors are open so water can easily splash in to them. Will have to make some type of cover for them.

Got the motor out of the washer and as you said a lot of open holes. Definitely need some kind of water resistant enclosure cover.

Don't forget to pull the wiring diagram off the machine so you can figure out how to hook it back up.
