Has anyone used the Al Sesona intarsia grinder? The machine looks interesting, but their website does not give a lot of info on it. I would be interested to hear some users commenst on the machine.

Here is the link to the machine. It looks pretty sturdy. One person responded they love it, but i am surprised no one else here is familiar with it. I would appreciate a few comments. Below is the link to the website. www.alsesonagrinder.com/grinders-and-accessories

Looks like it would be OK for flats & outside curves, but what about inside curves ?
Their extended description doesn't say what RPM the motor turns at, or if it's variable speed.
I'd want the water feed to reach the middle of the disc. The way it's set up, only the very outside of the disc will receive water. You'd be dry grinding on the rest of the disc.
The shiny "stainless clad" surfaces look pretty, but in use they won't stay pretty for long. Just something to add to the over all cost of the machine.

barclay ...I have looked at buying this machine for the past 2 years and still would like it, its on the short list. Since I already have cabbing machines this would be a purpose specific tool and I just need to wait a little longer to justify that expenditure. My guess is it would be a very versatile machine for someone looking for a multipurpose tool. My specific purposes would be for intarsia cabochons, this set up with the indexing head makes killer intarsias. Sure one can free-form intarsias, but this unit would allow for precise cuts and assembly. As I recall the William Holland School uses these in their class rooms. Call Al and I think you will get high confidence in what he builds and why he builds it that way. His online presence is poor but I do not think that accurately reflects his product. He will send you a mailing with a lot of info and pictures. I am anxious to hear your review if you get one. Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I emailed Al and got the whole package. Do-it-yourself is a commendable attitude, but with websites and advertising material sometimes it pays to call in the professionals so you message gets out the way you want it to. Sometimes you need that dispassionate third party to clearly state what you are buying without the use of jargon.

I have one and it is engineered in the finest tradition. Al includes every tool you need to tune it and a place to put it on the machine. I got it for intarsia... duh. Al's customer service is so good, it is almost clingy.
/looking here since a long time for better adhesive for intarsia. Epoxy 330 yellows and everything else I know takes a week to cure...

That is exactly what I have been looking for, but $400 is a bit hard to justify for no more than I would likely use it. My needs are pretty simple, so I will likely cobble something together
