Actually fill a crack the length of a Tomahawk handle. Said handle to be made from native Muskedine grapes vine wild from the swamp. It has a awesome red, white, black and crystal Flint Ridge Nethers Farm hawk knapped by me. Vine retains a tight solid bark but the crack opened all the way down the handle while kiln drying in my microwave. Handle is still totally sound. It will be wrapped in and around the hawk with white buckskin from a whitetail deer. The actually hand piece area will be laced with tan rawhide from a cow with feather and wooden bead fetishes. The handle will have a wrist cord made from dog bane fibers I hand twist into unbreakable native cordage. The turquoise is believed to protect the user so some fake turquoise is ok but it must be mixed with real turquoise to fill the crack. The endcap of the handle will have a turquoise nugget. Turquoise is copper phosphate. Powder copper phosphate is not terribly expensive.

Howdy folks!! I am trying a project where I mix ground up blue turquoise in epoxy snd pour it into cracks in wood. Therefore I need some good colored and easy to grind turquoise. Cheap, did I mention very inexspensive??? LOL That's a great idea Bill ! you'll have to show the project I've been having a similar idea about engraving a piece of quartz and filling it in with ground in mineral

Interestingly I met this guy today who was telling me about an artist who was doing this with cracked driftwood then selling the pieces as art.

Great idea, never thought of turquoise as a filler base.. I use crushed ammonite for filler on rocks and fossils-might have to try it on wood....

Ubermenhume done me good with a gift of turquoise chips from Nevada!!! I must of got them Sat because they were in the box this morning!!! Wow they r cool with some dark greenish and ranging all the wsy to a lite blue. Mostly dark green to medium green. Haven't tried crushing them yet but I might not have to. Read about filling the crack with chips and pouring the clear epoxy to fill the crack. Thanks a bunch for your generosity!!!

A lot of the Nevada turquoise runs from bluish green to green due to the substitution of some of the aluminum in the turquoise with iron.
