I have been searching for a rock splitter tool for years now. All I’ve ever found are the huge, very expensive ones. Or pictures of ones no longer made. The picture at the Dropbox link is of a rock splitter/rock trimmer that is at a museum where I volunteer. It’s actually a bit small; I’d rather it were a few inches larger. (Note: I think you have to right-click on the link and select to open it in another tab.) At recent gem & mineral show I visited the vendor “Diamond Pacific” (DP), a maker of many rock and mineral tools (grinders, cutters, etc.). Jim, of DP, said if there were enough people interested, he might be able to create one for sale. If word of mouth with my local friends is any indication, I’d say there were quite a few who’d be interested, which would make the price lower. I’m hoping for the $50 range, though I’m not sure how realistic that is. This tool makes trimming specimens much cleaner, with a lot less likely damage to the actual area of interest. For example, slabs with trilobites from Utah can be trimmed with no (or much less) damage to the actual trilobite. And small rock and mineral specimens can be tidied, as well (that's what it's used for at the museum). Any comments, interest? Thanks!

Some people use tile nippers. I have a pair but prefer to use a trim saw.
The press in the photo looks like it would be handy but slow. I don't think I would ever buy one. Jim

Oregon, I'm new to posting and while creating, the instructions said to use a link for images. Once I found that, I didn't look further. Perhaps there is a way to include a picture...

for some reason the rock trimmer link in your original post looks like regular text rather than a link on my screen?
agree with Jim, looks slow. I like tile nippers, though they do tend to fracture things occasionally in my hands. I think I first saw them on the Hans Gemma jasper video and it seemed so much quicker than a trim saw. But I've also broken plenty of pcs using them, so don't always reach for them.
