I was out in San Diego for work, and I had a little free time, so I went out to Torrey Pines State Beach, and HOLY BUCKETS!!! Beautiful rocks, EVERYWHERE!!! So I brought back one or two... I left the gallon of milk in the shot for scale. I put all of these in my carryon. I'm sure many of you know the look I got from the TSA agent. I think some of my favorites are these, they look like little (and big) hailstones... I found some (what I believe to be) coral, which is a cool aqua color, and pretty much every color of the rainbow in these rocks. I have come to the conclusion that God is a big fan of polished rocks, and he is the role model we should all aspire to. He is patient, as I would guess some of these rocks began their tumbling process before man walked the earth. Plus, he's got the best rock tumblers in existence. It was the first time I've been to the beach in a LONG time, and I think the first time I've been to a stony beach like that. It was funny to hear all of the rocks tumbling as the waves came in and out. It is so peaceful and soothing... Anyhow, I am going to have ubermenehune over to share some of my bounty and maybe we'll cut some rocks up with my saw. Talk about a wild party...

Lucky duck. I talked my cousin into in California to bring me some obsidian from near San Diago when he comes to visit next month. Hopefully some of it will look as neat as what you got.

Plan your next trip to Oregon, make sure to stop by Cobble Beach on Yaquina head... here's someone's video, Winter has better waves, but be careful, round basalt cobbles are not very stable and the angle of repose is steep... travelOregon blurb:
