Have a couple of slabs I am trying to identify. Picked the rough up at a yard sale and they didn't know anything about the material. All help is appreciated. Thanks Harold

First one is rhyolite. That kind is common in the Rio Grande gravel of Texas and I've seen it around California City, CA too. Second is Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper from CA ( actually a marine chert from the Franciscan Formation).....Mel

That morgan hill poppy looks really fractured. You should just send it to me. Just kidding, Those fractures are very common but it's pricey stuff and makes beautiful cabs.

Guess I am learning something here. first thought on the second one was Poppy Jasper. But, it had additional formations, so did not want to make the ID.
