I don't have the power tools to cut, grind and polish. Can I use a multi grit set of diamond stones and work these by hand? If not would anyone like to cut and oolish and keep 50% of the finished gems? I also have stuff like moonstone, quartz and tourmalne that needs refining. There isn't much lapidary business within driving distance, and they've gone up in price. willing to accept the possibility of damage. They are not creating revenue sitting in a bag.

The rubies and sapphires should be facet grade in the 1-3 carat range. Local value is $75 per carat on those and $ 30 for garnets. That's all I could afford to have cut. No net camera assess at the moment.

shermandukejewelryThat's a great offer. One I'd be pleased to take you up on but I don't yet have a facetter, despite nearly doing a deal a few weeks ago, I held off. So if you get any other offers, take them; I might be a while yet. If you're in no rush, please keep me in mind. I don't think my decision is 'if', but really it is 'when' and 'how much'?

No rush at all. They're sitting in the car. The rocks behave better than my dog on a ride. I can send a varied batch of gems and crystals. PM address info when you want to take a look.

Thank you... only when I'm in a position to cut and return. Make sure all involved are aware that a 1 carat stone (on average) will facet out at 0.20ct. Some less, some more. Never wanna lose a friend over a few hundred milligrams of rock snot. I have commissioned cut stones before. I am still buddies with my faceter!

They only have value when cut. The trip cost me $300 or so. I recouped $160 of that off of two garnets. I don't expect to get rich. I just want to see dull rocks turn into gemstones. There's always a chance that a raw one doesn't have any guts.
