Not sure what the attraction to the shipping papers is all about. Stacked focus gemfeller Garage RockerThey will perfect this technology and put it behind expensive glass. Hand held Not my photo. Could it be ? “I have photographed hundreds of tornados and four hurricanes. I’ve never seen winds so strong that dolphins were blown from the ocean.” said Ernie Schwartz of The Weather Channel. According to People of Lancaster wildlife expert Earl Sneed this is not an uncommon tragedy of hurricanes. “Dolphins swim away from hurricanes. And when they get closer to shore in shallow water they can be swept away by the winds.” explained Sneed. Residents of Fort Pierce report about a dozen wind-blown dolphin impacts on area homes. In my younger days I was riding a 180 HP(Kawasaki Ultra 3 cyl. 2 stroke) jet ski off the shore of Amelia Island. Dead glass water, hurricane had passed. Calm after the storm. Swells a mile out were 300 feet apart and 15 feet tall, ridges perpendicular to beach. Hitting 68 MPH at peaks, 74 in bottom of the valley. Ski launching way into air and landing gently 80-100 feet on the downhill side of the swell. You would think dangerous but conditions were perfect for stability. My most exhilratating life experience.

Cool moth pictures. The jet skiing sure sounds fun. I knee board and know how gentle a landing can be if you jump the wake and land on the downhill side of the other wake. That would be a blast to do on a larger scale. According to Snopes the dolphin pictures are fake. They have the same pictures without dolphins.

I can't tell you how crazy that day was. Amelia Island is about 25 miles long. Jumped waves all the way to the end and back. Just short of a tank of gas. Started slow at 30 mph and gradually advanced speed. Ski was 25 feet off the water cresting the waves. The only thing that made that possible was the steep slope on the backside. Otherwise the landings would have had way too much impact. I had an audience at the strip of the public beach. My cousin was there and said people were mesmerized. Said the rescue team was paying close attention too. The same type of seas develop when a hurricane further out in the ocean has passed. The swells roll in and are very organized in length and height. Weather calm water glassy.

That sounds like a ton of fun. I'm glad you lived to tell about it.

That sounds like a ton of fun. I'm glad you lived to tell about it. Bet those Great Lakes get rough. Out in deep water the coast would not be visible as large as they are. Bet there are Fairburns as big as basketballs on the bottom of those lakes. Thinking submarine here.

Hey jamesp, I saw this thread Saturday morning on the way out to the golf course and laughed about it all day. The dolphin pics are hilarious. I mean, come on? I like a good photoshop fake, but that was pretty far fetched. Made me think of 'Sharknado'. So, thank you.
The stacking technique is something I will have to try out, now that I have a new macro lens that severely limits DOF. I don't have it built into the camera, so I'll give it a go in photoshop. You're getting good results hand-held.

You're getting good results hand-held. The 14 houses suffering 'dolphin damage' cracked me up. I have braced that camera and seen what looked like a bit of cloudiness. Some kind of minute error in calculations. I have hand held and seen really fine images. And one of the frames displaced. Let me find that photo Here it is. Hand held, bug not giving me any time. Greenery is stellar except the closest section. Note bug's double tail end. I must have shaken exactly on that frame at target focus which was dialed in on the bug. Or the focus homed in deeper into the plant.

Interesting dolphin photos. I had dismissed the possibility of Sharknado up until now.

Interesting dolphin photos. I had dismissed the possibility of Sharknado up until now. Darryl. Both Ivan and Katrina pushed deep sea blue water fish well close to shore. It's a common occurrence with hurricanes. A sunken barge 6 miles off shore used to stand proud of the sand 10 feet. After Katrina it only stood proud 6 feet. It was in 66 feet of water. Fisherman could go a few miles out and catch the deep water species. Maybe a Dolphicane or Porpicane as a sequel ?
