A few cabs from Friday and Saturday. Opal - I wish I knew how to photograpgh this better, this actually has a lot of life in it. Morenci Mine Azurite with Chrysocolla Morenci Mine Natural Copper in Matrix Opalised Petrified Wood Canadian River Plume Agate Montana Agate - I really enjoy working with Montana's. They always take a gorgeous shine. Cathedral Agate The agate was good but I don't like how I shaped it Condor Agate - I love Condor agate but rarely cab it. This is from a small nodule I cut that had a fracture. Thanks for looking! Roger

All very beautiful. Is that opal a doublet? No, the opal not a doublet. It is a 4mm thick piece of natural opal. I never really learned how to make a doublet correctly. The few I have made turned out "ok" at best and I really didn't enjoy the process of making them.

Very nice Roger! I think I like the Montana best - even though I don't work on Montana very much anymore I'm drawn to it because I know how high the difficulty level is getting all the scratches out.

Pretty cabs, Roger! I love the opal wood and Mt aggie. That's a really great capture on the wood. I think I have asked this before of someone, but how can you tell if it is opalized? Is it the depth of the polish?

Is it the depth of the polish? Tela, My understanding is opalised wood is wood with silica replacement; where more typical petrified wood is chalcedony replacement. I am sure someone else here may be able to provide more detailed info..?
