Roger, My hat is off to you. Those look tremendous and I cant see how a free form could get any rounder Unless I am just not seeing the issues I Would say your skill levels are pretty damn high.
Oh, and nice polishing.

Words mean things.
When you say "it's above my skill level"....
Then it most certainly is.
When you start saying "I can make round cabs, ain't hard at all"...
Then that will be true.. but only then.
I ain't kidding.
Earlier this year my appointment count cut in half. (Economy turning) I analysed the situation. I said to myself, "to make a good living, I have to sell more often and bring average order value up"
My sell rate went from 27% to 38% and AOV went from $5k to $6k. Sold more jobs with more dollars. On the power of a statement.
Words mean something.

Those are great, especially knowing how hard it is to make round cabs!

What you don't see are the fails I cut this week...off center domes, "rectangular" rounds, etc. I am 50% on rounds. For every 1 I get sort of right, I have 1 that will not see the light of day lol

I think you did a GREAT job on these, Roger. With one exception, they are look exactly right. I am terrible at circles, too, so I feel your pain. But, you definitely have rounded the corner on these circles.

Look wonderful! stoner Ed has a note in this forum someplace about dopping, sticking the dop stick into a rotary drill, then going at it. Almost guaranteed to turn out round, but I don't see that you need it!

Rounds are tough for everyone I think. You're doing a great job. Other than using the drill assist suggested by Pat (I tried it years ago and it works) I think the cab rest that comes with a Genie is also a big help. Even if you don't use a Genie they're sold separately by Kingsley and should work with most machines. They allow fine control for the outline and setting a uniform girdle angle, which is the key to doming IMO. I don't dop during the grinding phase either and have had pretty good success with that method.
